Ghostly Presences

In Memorium, SMJ

This world ends with you:
Now it shakes that your
Smile lacks softness, that your heart
Yearns for dew; and at the turn of your eye
I see a whole new you.

So, this, then, is how that
Last survivour of the jet crash must have felt?
This return to that hole from which you dug yourself out
360 degrees ago — in life’s sweet pain
Can you ask for more?

This world ends with you:
It breaks — it is breaking — like a
Bread crumbing. Perhaps, that’s why it hurt:
For these pieces that falterless fall so freely
Freely dig deep into the dirt.

So easily you mount, without a freckle you float,
Look through my conscience
With weightless stare. In your eyes shine the glow
Of the light that’s through the window. And your
Eye sees me no more. But, I am there.
